EARL T. BROWN

Earl T. Brown is the principal owner of the Law Office of Earl T. Brown, PC. in Greenville, NC. His law practice concentrates in the areas of juvenile defense, criminal defense, personal injury, worker compensation, and medical malpractice. He is married to Dr. H.J. Brown, a dentist, and has one son, Derek K. Brown, an attorney in the the law firm.

After 19 years of working in the computer industry, Mr. Brown pursued his dream of becoming an attorney. Upon passing the bar in 1991, Mr. Brown began the practice of law as an Assistant District Attorney based in Murfeesboro, NC. Later, he joined the private practice of Revelle, Burleson and Lee where he handled criminal defense and county governmental matters. In 1993, he opened his own practice located in Greenville with a desire to bring quality legal representation to Eastern North Carolina.

Currently, he is sworn to practice before the North Carolina Federal District Court in the Eastern District. His service to the judicial system includes being a Superior Court Certified Mediator and a Court Approved Arbitrator. In 2001, Mr. Brown had the honor of being sworn in before the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Brown has also served as the Chairman of the Judiciary District 3-A Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar Association. Mr. Brown also serves as a member in the Eastern North Carolina Inn of Court, North Carolina Academy of Trail Lawyers, American Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Association, Attorney for the City of Greenville Division of North Carolina Police Benevolent Association, Inc., Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, and the Paralegal Advisory Board of Pitt Community College. During his career as an attorney, he has served as the President of the Pitt County Bar Association, a member of the WEED and SEED Steering Committee of Pitt County, and as a member of the Pitt County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council.

Through his years of service Mr. Brown has been recognized by the Governors of North Carolina to serve the State. Governor James Hunt appointed Mr. Brown to serve as a member of the Historical Murfreesboro Commission and as a Trustee on the Elizabeth City State University Board of Trustees. Governor Michael Easley renewed the appointment of Mr. Brown to serve an additional term as a Trustee of the Elizabeth City State University Board of Trustees.

Since 1991, Mr. Brown has presented seminars to different legal groups on computerization of law offices. He has served as a member of the planning committee for the ABA s annual Computer Technology Conference, Additionally, Mr. Brown is a motivational counselor in the area schools and is a volunteer mediator for the- Eastern Carolina Mediation Center, For his outstanding work in his profession and the community, he has received recognition as a Distinguished Alumnus of both North Carolina A & T State University and Campbell University School of Law,

Mr. Brown received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and his Juris Doctorate from the Norman A. Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University. He is also a licensed private pilot with an instrument rating.

 

DEREK K. BROWN

Derek K. Brown is a practicing attorney in Greenville, NC. His law practice concentrates in the areas of business entities and contracts, criminal defense, and government relations, and estate planning.

In 1996, Mr. Brown was admitted to practice law in the state of North Carolina and joined the law firm. Mr. Brown enjoyed the honor of being admitted to practice at the age of 23. In 2000, Mr. Brown associated with the law firm of W. Darrell Whitley in Denton, NC where he practiced criminal defense in Alamance, Cabarrus, Chatham, Davidson, Guilford, Moore, Montgomery, and Randolph counties for a year and a half. In January 2003, Mr. Brown had the honor of working for the United States House of Representatives as a Legislative Counsel under the employ of Congressman Frank W. Ballance, Jr. serving the constituents of the 1 st Congressional District of North Carolina.

Currently, he is sworn to practice before the North Carolina Federal District Court in the Eastern District. Mr. Brown also serves as a member in the North Carolina Academy of Trail Lawyers, American Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Association and as a member of the WEED and SEED Steering Committee of Pitt County.

Mr. Brown attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where he majored in Chemical Engineering where he received numerous awards for Academic Achievement and was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. Mr. Brown received his Juris Doctorate from the Norman A. Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University, where North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers honored Mr. Brown.
